THE RECORD
IS BENT.
Public images are polished. Behind the headlines, the patterns are messier. We pull on the threads: power, manipulation, narcissism, and the stories people are paid to sell.
RECORD
MEDIA
Look closer. Then look again.
Bent Record Media investigates the collision of celebrity, influence, reputation and human behavior. Court filings. Business connections. Interviews. Contradictions. Public performances. The details count, especially when the headline wants you to stop looking.
Explore the language of narcissism, manipulation, coercive control and empathy through concrete behaviors and recognizable scenarios.
Trace public statements, legal records, business ties and timelines. A polished image is not a substitute for evidence.
When the contradictions are ridiculous, we say so. Commentary stays commentary; source material stays source material.

Behavioral vocabulary, from personality traits to the terms used in popular narcissism research. Open any entry for a closer look.
Narcissistic patterns
Entitlement, grandiosity, image control, hypersensitivity to criticism, and using other people for admiration or advantage. The most revealing clues are repeated dynamics, not one dramatic moment.
Narcissistic personality disorder
A persistent pattern involving grandiosity, need for admiration and problems with empathy. How a person behaves across work, friendships, and intimate relationships can tell a more complex story than their public persona.
Empaths
A popular term for people who experience strong emotional attunement. Empathy can involve noticing subtle cues, sharing another person's feelings, or understanding their point of view. These abilities do not always travel together.
“Normals”
In some narcissism-education frameworks, this refers to people who generally display ordinary ranges of empathy and emotional responses. It is a descriptive shorthand for discussing dynamics, not one uniform personality type.
Psychopathy
A construct studied through traits such as callousness, shallow affect, manipulativeness, low remorse and some antisocial behaviors. Researchers distinguish interpersonal traits from impulsive or criminal behavior.
Sociopathy
A widely used term for antisocial patterns, often associated in popular discussions with impulsivity, disregard for others and rule-breaking. Different writers use the word differently, so examples matter more than the label alone.
Narcissistic psychopathy
Used in some behavioral frameworks to describe a combination of narcissistic and psychopathic traits: grandiosity, exploitation, callousness, and instrumental control of others.
Manipulation & control
Watch for triangulation, gaslighting, moving goalposts, blame-shifting, strategic charm and social isolation. One tactic can serve many motives; patterns emerge when you track who acts, who benefits, and what happens next.
Receipts over reputation.
We are interested in what can actually be traced: a filing, a timestamp, a public statement, an ownership record, an unedited exchange. An accusation is not a finding. A contradiction is worth checking. A theory is a lead, not a verdict.
Our research draws on behavioral frameworks, including ideas discussed by HG Tudor, to ask better questions about recurring patterns. Each investigation has to earn its conclusions through its own evidence.
Sometimes the result is a serious investigation. Sometimes it is satire. Either way, we want readers to leave with more tools than they arrived with.
